Florence opens new Arno bridge

A new bridge across the Arno is set to open in Florence this Saturday, creating a long-awaited connection between Bellariva and Parco dell’Anconella, while adding a significant new piece to the city’s expanding tram infrastructure. Before cars begin crossing the structure, however, Florentines themselves will inaugurate the bridge on foot. Florence expands ban on short-term tourism rentals beyond historic centre

Florencehas approved a major expansion of restrictions on new short-term tourist rentals, extending limits beyond the historic UNESCO centre in what city officials are describing as an unprecedented move in Italy. The measure, which was approved on May 26, dramatically enlarges the areas where new Airbnb-style rentals cannot be opened. Finnish divers recover bodies of two Italians from underwater cave in Maldives

Maldives government spokesman Ahmed Shaam had earlier said that the three Finnish divers would retrieve the bodies, which were lying at a depth of around 60 metres. Finnish divers have recovered the bodies of two of the four remaining Italians who died deep inside an underwater cave in an atoll in the Maldives, an official said on Tuesday.
